Well, my brave baby had her first break. While playing Four Square at recess, a fast ball hit her left pinky finger so hard that it bent backwards. It hurt immediately, but she didn't tell anyone....not her friends, not her teacher, not the school nurse. She was so brave. When I asked her why she didn't go down to the office, or tell her teacher, she said that she knew it was close to 3pm and thought she would just wait for Dad to pick her up. Well, when she got in the car, tears welled up in her eyes and she told Martin that she had hurt her finger. She held it up and Martin saw that it was swollen. They called me at work and we decided that she should still go to piano practice (just to sit in and listen) and they would call me when they were done. Well, they left piano early because she was in so much pain. We decided to meet at the Rockwood Clinic Urgent Care. 2 hours later, and 2 xrays taken, the doctor confirmed that it was indeed broken. They put a splint on it and told her to keep it on for a good week, then take it off every once in a while to try to begin bending it again. It is going to take about a month to heal. ugh. She was cleared to continue playing soccer.....thank goodness! LOL!
